Finding beauty in my backyard. I struggle with living in a rural area. Many times I feel trapped and removed from a different way of life. I appreciate the beauty of the country side and life's simple pleasures, even though I get frustrated and throw my hands up often as I plan my next vacation, road trip, or the next chapter of my life.

The broken sidewalk created an interesting design that felt like a lot of modern art. I enjoyed the symmetrical shapes and decided to fill some of the spaces in using color to provide contract between the light and dark gray spaces. The butterfly provides contrasting shape with obvious circles used to deter prey. I used the butterfly as camouflage over my self-portrait.
